International experts and leading human rights organisations are clear: the violence that Israel is waging on the people of Gaza is genocidal. Individuals, institutions, and governments across the world now have a responsibility to speak up and to act decisively to prevent genocide, to uphold international law, and to defend human rights.
The University of Cambridge has yet to condemn Israel's violence for what it is. More than this, the University maintains close links with the arms industry, including companies such as BAE Systems and Boeing which supply deadly weapons and technologies to Israel. It invests its huge wealth to support their work, and maintains over £46 million in industry partnerships. As these companies wilfully ignore Israel's systemic misuse of their technologies to commit atrocities and war crimes, the University is also implicated in these horrors.
Out of the encampment grew a diverse community, Cambridge for Palestine. We are a large and decentralised network and members are involved in a wide variety of activities, from actions and protests to sitting on university working groups, to awareness-raising campaigns and events.
In all that we do, we seek to build solidarity with Palestine throughout the university and city of Cambridge.
